Colt

I pull up in front of our house and throw my Ford Raptor in park. Parker texted me this morning and asked me to come over before I was so fucking rudely awakened by B’s firecracker of a best friend. That girl will take down any of us. Not fucking lying. Strolling through the front door, I hear Parker, Landon, and Tim playing PlayStation before I see them.

“Fuck, dude! Get your shit together!” Landon curses.

“Fuck your face!” Tim shouts back.

“What are you douchebags up to?” I tease as I take a seat on the couch.

“Beating these little bitch asses is what’s up!” Parker triumphs and the other two guys mumble profanities.

“What was up with your text this morning? You said you needed to talk to me?”

“Yeah, umm, not right now, though,” he says moving his eyes between everyone.

Weird.

“I need to get out to the box. You want to spill your guts now or when I’m done?”

Parker looks around the room with a frustrated gaze and then his eyes land on mine.

“Follow me.” He stands up and makes his way upstairs.

I look at Landon and Tim like ‘what the fuck is up’ and then head after him. Once we reach the game room, he proceeds through the spare bedroom door. He sits down on the bed and motions for me to shut the door.

I could cut the tension in this room with a knife.

What the fuck is his deal?

“I need to tell you something.” All emotion is void from his voice, and now I am worried.

“I hope you didn’t knock someone up.” My look is playful, but my voice is serious.

“Damn, dude! I’m trying to be serious with you here for one motherfucking second!” His eyes become more stressed as he talks.

“Okay, sorry.” I can tell whatever it is, is weighing him down.

“I had sex with Kelsey.” His voice is remorseful as his eyes are set on mine. Unwavering.

Did I hear him right? How in the hell did he manage that?

“You fucked Kelsey?” I deadpan. I don’t think it’s quite set in, so I attempt to question him again. “What do you mean? You had sex with Kelsey? How could you let this shit happen?”

Parker fucks ‘em and leaves ‘em as fast as I do, as fast as I did. The fact that he had sex with Kelsey just complicates things, mainly for me. I don’t need all the drama that will certainly follow his decision.

“Things are different with Kelsey. I can’t explain it.” Defeat is all over his face as his shoulders sag.

“You better get to talking. Shit, Brealynn’s going to be pissed that you fucked over her best friend. “

“You can’t tell her! Kelsey doesn’t want anything to come of this. She doesn’t want anyone to know.” His voice shakes at his comment.

“Shouldn’t that make you happy? I mean, I do not see the issue here.”

“It should,” he says leveling his stare right back at me.

“So, what now? You telling me that you care for this girl? ‘Cause I find that hard to believe.
